This year, the rechristened Solo Zydeco Festival moves the party to its new home in Humble. The fest kicks off Friday night with a dance featuring Chris Ardoin and NuStep at the Venecian Club and then rolls into the Humble Civic Center for a two-day showcase with ten of the hottest zydeco bands in the country, including Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, and Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Road Runners.

For younger zydeco enthusiasts, new--generation acts Jeremy and the Zydeco Hot Boyz will offer traditional grooves spiked with rap and Latin flavors. Laissez les bons temps rouler! Friday night’s kickoff dance start at 9 p.m. The Venecian, 414 North Sam Houston Parkway. The festival runs 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Humble Civic Center & Arena, 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble. For information, call 713-204-8800 or visit www.solozp.com. $15 to $25.
