AEROS

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation turns STOMP! on its gymnastic ear

By Bob Ruggiero

Published on March 20, 2008

Created by the choreographers from STOMP! with a pulsating original score and surreal props, the gymnastics spectacle AEROS is a grown-up way to appreciate hard-toned bodies in flight and contortion. The show features more than a dozen adult athletes of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation in a program of synchronized flipping, tossing, tumbling and even costume changes that make the sport — dare we say — erotic? There’s also plenty of humor in the individual sketches and jaw-dropping how-did-they-do-that moments.

Even if you never graduated past the somersault or the handstand, you can appreciate the beauty and flexibility of the human body at AEROS. 3 and 8 p.m. today. The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice Street in Galveston. For tickets and information, call 800-821-1894 or visit www.thegrand.com. $18.50 to $75.
Sat., March 22, 3 & 8 p.m., 2008
